Solar lights can provide an efficient light source.

30 July, 2010

Solar power has been around for years however in the early days owing to the lesser technology and cost solar power was very much a commercial product providing a source of heating and warm water.

However this has changed dramatically over the years resulting in a very cost effective alternative power source for many applications, solar flood lights of varying shapes and sizes are one avenue that has become very popular in the domestic market.

The basic technology is very simple a small panel is used to capture the sun’s rays which in turn is stored in batteries and used to power the light.

Solar flood lights are very environmentally friendly and owing to the advancements in technology they are cheap to produce and have a multitude of uses.

So how they exactly work ?

As discussed before, solar lights use the sun’s rays to produce energy and, ultimately this is converted into a usable power source to light a person’s house or workspace.

In essence solar panels collect the light from the sun and turn it into electrical power.

The power is then stored in rechargeable batteries obviously the size of panel and batteries vary dependant on the product size.

With the advancement of the associated technology the concept is used to power the smallest garden light to the biggest of commercial flood lights,

Any product that requires an electrical power supply can be modified to accommodate solar power which is a very green and environmentally friendly option.
